The
experience with sheltering
and rehabilitating thousands
of mentally ill people gained
by Gregoire and by his S.
Camille Association in the
Ivory Coast has been recognised
and paid tribute to by international
bodies including the WHO,
as well as by many international
mass media: Le Monde, Vita,
Colors, Italian state television,
the Television of Italian-speaking
Switzerland, German TV and
last but not least by Health
Authorities, Universities
and companies in the services
sector over the course of
more than 40 meetings and
seminars.
The
Foundation works through
an international network
of Associations in Switzerland
(Lugano), Catalonia (AIMA
in Manresa), France (La Clef
in Paris) and Canada (Montreal),
all belonging to the European-African
consortium called “Casimir” that
supports the activities of
those who work in the field
of mental health.
For
many people in both Africa
and Europe, Gregoire’s
experience represents an
experience of faith; what
is more, for those people
engaged in health work, social
work and the services sector,
it is one of the most mature,
human and sustainable examples
of:
- mental health as a dimension
of the community and not
only the individual;
- giving care and shelter
to the socially excluded
as a factor that can help
promote social unity;
- integration of the weak
sections of society;
- local development.
